There is only one Certified Plastic Surgeon offering SmartLipo TriPlex in the Greater Sacramento area and that’s Dr. Andrew Kaczynski. There are 3 current models of SmartLipo offerred today and the TriPlex is the most advanced form with 3 lasers. The first laser is for melting fat, the second for reducing bruising and the third is for skin tightening.
Some clinics in our area are claiming they offer SmartLipo but are actually offering other laser liposuction technologies that are no where near as safe or effective as SmartLipo TriPlex. In some cases, these clinics are corporate owned entities where you will not even meet a doctor, much less a Certified Plastic Surgeon, until the day of your actual procedure. And then, the doctor that comes in to perform your liposuction is often a contractor for the company and has likely had minimal training. The worst part of this is that as a patient, you spend the same amount of money at these clinics as you would going with a real, Certified Plastic Surgeon!

SmartLipo TriPlex™ for liposuction is now being offerred for the first time in the Greater Sacramento area by Certified Plastic Surgeon, Andrew Kaczysnki, MD, at Advanced Concepts in Plastic Surgery. Cynosure and Advanced Concepts in Plastic Surgery are proud to announce that after several years and 5 generations of SmartLipo technology, and a lot of success in Europe, Andrew Kaczynski, MD has put his seal of approval on the 5th generation of SmartLipo called SmartLipo Triplex. While there are a few SmartLipo machines of varying generations in the Greater Sacramento area, Dr. Kaczynski is the only Certified Plastic Surgeon to offer the procedure.
SmartLipo uses the latest advancements in cosmetic surgery technology, which provide a safer, quicker and cost-effective method. Advanced Concepts in Plastic Surgery will continue to offer VASER Liposuction, and VASER Hi Def LipoSculpure as well. The primary benefit to SmartLipo technology is it’s increased effectiveness in skin tightening. In some cases, a combination of VASER technology and SmartLipo technology may be appropriate.
Pioneered in Europe, SmartLipo is the first laser-assisted liposuction procedure. SmartLipo was approved by the FDA in November of 2006 and has quickly been labeled the cutting edge liposuction procedure in cosmetic surgery but it was this 5th generation of SmartLipo that finally sold Dr. Kaczynski.
Dr. Kaczynski noted in a recent blog,”the current generation of SmartLipo is the fifth generation of this laser liposuction system. It provides three different laser wavelengths. Of course, it is quite a bit more complicated, essentially one wavelength decreases bruising, one increases fat melting and one increases skin tightening. This also leads to less trauma and faster healing. A combination of three lasers also allows better liposuction action in fibrous areas or secondary cases.”
According to SmartLipo’s manufacturer, Cynosure, the SmartLipo system has quickly become one of the most successful liposuction procedures in the cosmetic surgery field for its use of cutting-edge technology.
With SmartLipo, a hollow, pen-sized instrument called a cannula is inserted into a minor incision made by the surgeon. The cannula uses a small laser to liquefy the fat cells an area and drain them away. Because the cannula is only about 1.0 mm to 2.0 mm, SmartLipo is a less invasive liposuction procedure, reducing the risk of bruising and promoting a quicker recovery. In addition, the cannula’s laser acts as a visual guide, helping the surgeon make more precise movements than typical liposuction.
With a 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser, the wattage ranges from 6W to 18W, and the higher the wattage allows for a faster procedure. As the laser liquefies fat cells, the laser will simultaneously coagulate small blood vessels, preventing bleeding and swelling. A hollow cannula is also used to suction out the fat cells and speed the recovery process.
