The DailyBurn blog posted a graphic that sums up current trends in plastic surgery according to the American Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, but I think they left a few things out. The popularity of mommy makeovers, which is a combination of surgeries that are performed at one time are not listed and are quite common in my practice. Also, the technical term “lipoplasty” is used instead of the more common term, “liposuction,” is probably confusing to a lot of readers. Of course, here at Advanced Concepts in Plastic Surgery, we like the more descriptive term of LipoSculpture to describe Vaser Hi Def liposuction.
While nationwide, I can see how the American Association for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery came up with these numbers, they don’t reflect my numbers very well.
Here at Advanced Concepts in Plastic Surgery in Sacramento, the Top Ten Plastic Surgeries list looks more like this:
1. VASER Hi Def LipoSculpture – VASER Hi Def, or VHD is offered in Northern California exclusively by Advanced Concepts in Plastic Surgery because I’m the only Certified Plastic Surgeon north of Los Angeles who is trained in this method of advanced body sculpting.
2. Mommy Makeover – As I mentioned above, mommy makeovers are actually a combination of surgeries performed together. They include any combination of a breast lift or mastopexy which may or may not include breast augmention and breast implants, a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty, and often some liposuction or VASER Hi Def.
3. Breast Augmentation – While this came in #1 nationwide, breast augmentation comes in at #3 since the popularity of mommy makeovers and VASER Hi Def. Out of breast augmentions that we perform here in Sacramento, most use silicone breast implants although the saline breast implants are still popular.
4. Breast Lift – Technically called mastopexy, breast lifts come in right below breast augmentation in Sacramento.
5. Facelift – I love doing facelifts! The ability to give someone back a refreshed look, erase years and have them feel as though the face in the mirror more reflects who they are, is very rewarding for me!
6. Eyelid surgery – Blepharoplasty is also one of those surgeries that makes people look more like they feel.
7. Tummy tuck – Often a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is necessary after someone looses a lot of weight fast. Sometimes this is after motherhood but lately there have been a lot of people opting for “stomach stapling” surgery that causes them to lose well over a hundred pounds in a year. This rapid weight-loss does not give the skin a chance to shrink and leaves hanging skin that is permanent.
8. Brow lift – brow lifts can make someone who is often told they look angry, look happy again! Facial surgery is very rewarding due to the fact that facial expressions are a big part of how we communicate. A sunken, or fallen brow can make the happiest man or woman look like they are always in a bad mood.
9. Regular liposuction – By “regular,” I mean liposuction that is not designed to sculpt out the body to the extent that VASER Hi Def Liposuction does. “Regular” liposuction can be simply removing some fat from small areas, sometimes liposuction of the chin, thighs, buttocks. I still use the VASER liposuction tool, but it is used in a far different manner for regular liposuction.
